Skilled Visas
If you are under 45 years of age and have an occupation which is listed on the MLTSSL [Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List] and have the relevant qualifications, English Language requirement and work experience to match then it is most likely you will qualify to apply for a General Skilled Migration (GSM) visa.
If you are under 45 years of age and if your occupation is not listed on the MLTSSL but is listed on the STSOL [Short Term Skill Occupation List] and you have the relevant qualifications, English language requirement and work experience to match, then it is most likely you will qualify to apply for the visa in this category.
You can apply for Citizenship after four years of being a PR Visa holder.
You could be eligible for permanent residency after two years.
You might be eligible to apply for this visa if you:
- Are younger than 50 years of age.
- Are in Australia.
- Hold an eligible visa.
- Meet the two year Australian study requirement.
- Meet the English language requirement.
- have recently graduated with either an eligible qualification or with skills and qualifications that relate to an occupation on the skilled occupation list (SOL).
This visa has two streams:
- Graduate Work stream – for international students with an eligible qualification who graduate with skills and qualifications that relate to an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). A visa in this stream is granted for 18 months from the date of grant.
- Post-Study Work stream – for international students who graduate with a higher education degree from an Australian education provider, regardless of their field of study. This stream is only available to students who applied for, and were granted, their first student visa to Australia on or after 5 November 2011. A visa in this stream can be granted for up to four years from the date the visa is granted, depending on the visa applicant’s qualification.
Employer Sponsored Visas
Australian Employers can sponsor overseas skilled workers in particular occupations required in Australia on a temporary or permanent basis. There is a variety of working visas (Subclass 457, subclass 186 and subclass 187)
The Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457) allows skilled workers to come to Australia and work for an approved business for up to:
You might be eligible to apply for this visa if you:
- four years after it is granted – if your occupation is listed on the Combined list of eligible skilled occupations or this period is required due to international trade obligations.
- two years after it is granted – if your occupation is not listed on the MLTSSL
You must be sponsored by an approved business. A business can sponsor someone for this visa if they cannot find an Australian citizen or permanent resident to do the skilled work.
You can be in or outside Australia when you lodge your application.
What this visa lets you do?
This visa allows you to:

Partner Visas
Partner Visas Under this category, you have two different options :
You need to be married or in a De facto relationship to apply for this visa. This is initially a temporary visa. After two years you could be eligible for permanent residency.
Your sponsor must be your spouse who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, or De facto partner (including same-sex relationships) with an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
Your sponsor must be your Fiancé who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
Once you have obtained your temporary Partner visa but later separated from your Partner you could still be eligible for permanent residence based on your circumstances. Student Visa
- Prior to 1July 2016 there are many student visas based on the course you choose to study and the country you come from/passport you hold. But after 1July 2016 there will be only two student visas i.e. Student visa Subclass 500 and Student Guardian visa (subclass 590).
- Applicants for some Student visas are required to provide results of an English language test.
- For some Student visas you are required to provide evidence that you have funds from an acceptable source that are sufficient to meet travel costs, course tuition fees and living costs for the period of stay in Australia. This may also require evidence of funds for the first 12 months of stay and/or a declaration covering the remainder of their stay in Australia.
- Student visas holders cannot work until you have commenced your course in Australia. Once your course has commenced you are permitted to work a maximum of 40 hours per fortnight when your course is in session, and unlimited hours when your course is not in session.
- Your dependents (partner /children can accompany you to Australia on a student visa.

Business Visa / Investor Visa
Significant Investor stream (subclass 188) 5 Million investment visa: This is the easier and quicker option if you have 5 million to invest in complying investment in Australia. Here there is no age or English language requirements.
This is for business owners. It’s a 4 year temporary residency visa. You do not need to live in Australia for the entire duration of your visa. There are a few stages prior to obtaining this visa. Parent Visas
- Subclass 884 (Temporary Residence) / 864 (Permanent Residence) – Contributory onshore

You may be eligible to apply for a parent visa if :
- You have a child who can sponsor you.
